From her manuscript, Levels of Want:
Who am I?
I am a romance reader, a daughter of a romance writer, and a longtime fan of the genre. I am also an essayist, yes, a serious one.
I am a divorcée. I am a single woman for the first time since I was sixteen — hell, for the first time, period. Being single at sixteen isn’t really being single. And I wasn’t legally single, not yet, for most of the writing of this book, because divorce isn’t so easy as that.
I am a vegetarian, a dog-owner, a Sagittarius. My story is neither myth nor cautionary tale.
I am a former lawyer, a former college professor.
I am well-educated about some things, ignorant about others.
Don’t believe me on that last part? Oh, you will.
